Argentine Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, who has taken the name of Pope Francis, became the new leader of the Catholic Church today. Bergoglio, 76, is a Jesuit from Buenos Aires and is the first pope from South America. He is also the first pope to take the name of Francis. “Let’s pray always for each other. Let’s pray for the whole world. May there be a great brotherhood,” Pope Francis said in Italian.
